Vehicle Recall Alert: Ford Motor Company Mass Safety Campaign in the US

Media reports confirm Ford is recalling 565,691 Ford Spectrum and Spectrum Raptor units across the US. The campaign addresses an engine compartment wiring harness fault that may trigger short circuits and raise fire risks, covering 2021–2026 model vehicles. The automaker estimates roughly 1% of these vehicles carry the wiring defect. Ford states no crashes or injuries linked to this fault have been reported. To resolve the hazard, technicians will fit upgraded protective covers for the wiring harness free of charge on all recalled vehicles.

Bear in mind this is not Ford’s first major U.S. recall this year. Earlier this month, the brand launched another recall tied to faulty second-row seat control switches. Long-term use can shift or loosen the switches’ outer frames and housings. Buttons may become jammed, fail to rebound, or stay depressed continuously. As a result, seats could unexpectedly unlock, tilt forward or slide along tracks while driving. This raises the chance of occupant harm if a crash occurs.

Ford Motor Company announced a recall of nearly 388,000 Ford and Lincoln SUVs across the United States. The recall affects 227,520 Ford Explorer models (2020-2026) and 160,391 Lincoln Aviator models (2020-2027). The company stated it will inspect affected vehicles free of charge and replace the redesigned second-row seat switch frame and related housing components based on the inspection results to eliminate safety hazards.

In June, Ford issued a U.S. recall covering 740,000 vehicles. The fault involves unintended engagement of the transmission parking pawl; this can lock wheels mid-drive and lead to vehicle rollaway after parking, raising safety hazards. Affected models include the 2018–2021 Navigator, Expedition, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, plus the 2021 F-150 pickup.

That same month, the brand launched another recall over poorly secured wheel arches that risk separating from the chassis. Ford also called back 36,046 2022–2026 Ford Coupe units due to this safety flaw.

This is not a small number considering the number of Ford recalls in the US over the past two months. While an official recall demonstrates responsibility to car owners, such a large-scale recall inevitably has a negative impact on the brand’s reputation.
